Robert C. Ford contributes lyrics and spoken word to “The Cauldron” on Sound Liberation’s album Elegy. Set to music by Gene Pritsker, this darkly humorous tale of a woman’s revenge on a cheating boyfriend blends jazz, opera, and spoken word. Soprano Adriana Valdés leads the vocals, with a trumpet solo by Franz Hackl, alongside Pritsker on guitar, Amanda Ruzza on bass, and David Cossin on drums. Ford’s narration enters midway through the song.
